On the night of August 17, 1999, at 03:02, one of the greatest tragedies in Turkey’s history occurred. The Marmara Earthquake took thousands of lives and deeply affected millions of people. Today, on its anniversary, we remember those we lost with respect and mercy, and we extend our condolences to their families. This painful event reminds us once again of the reality of earthquakes. Regions such as Çeşme and Alaçatı are also under seismic risk. Building safe structures, conducting soil surveys, and raising awareness are responsibilities we must all share. We will never forget.
